Players of Tennessee Education Lottery games must be 18 years or older to buy or redeem tickets, which can be purchased at over 4,700 retailers throughout the state.
Proceeds from the lottery go toward funding college scholarships, pre-kindergarten and after-school programs.
Prizes of $600 and less can be redeemed at any Tennessee Education Lottery retailer, or by mail - no claim form is necessary, but you will need to sign the back of the ticket, plus write your name and address, either on the back of the ticket or on a separate piece of paper. Prizes over $600, to under $200,000, can be claimed at the lottery headquarters in Nashville, or one of the district offices, located in Knoxville, Chattanooga and Memphis. If mailing your winning ticket be sure to keep a copy of the front and back of all documents you send, and if it's a larger cash prize, it's advisable to send your claim by certified or registered mail.
If you're lucky enough to win a jackpot prize, you have 60 days to decide whether to take the prize as a lump sum or annuity. Typically, the lump sum prize would be approximately half the amount of the announced jackpot, less taxes. If jackpot winners don't let Tennessee Education Lottery know of their decision within the 60 days, the prize will be paid as an annuity.
Winners have 180 days after the date of the draw in which to make their prize claim.
Prizes are subject to Federal withholding tax.
