Players of Ohio Lottery games must be 18 years or older to buy or redeem tickets, which can be purchased at almost 9,000 retailers throughout the state.
In the 2009 fiscal year Ohio Lottery sold $2.43 billion worth of lottery tickets, and contributed $702.3 million of that figure to the state treasury, to be used for the funding of elementary, secondary, vocational, and special education programs as determined in appropriations made by the Ohio General Assembly.
Prizes of less than $600 can be redeemed at any Ohio Lottery retailer. Prizes of $600 to $5,000, take your winning ticket to a retailer, and receive a 'Pay to Bearer' ticket. With this ticket you can fill out a claim form and cash in the voucher at a local bank, or, mail the claim form and your winning lottery ticket in to Ohio Lottery. If over $5,000 you need to make your prize claim in person at an Ohio Lottery regional office, located at Brooklyn Heights, Toledo, Dayton, Cincinnati, Lorain, Youngstown, North Canton and Athens. If you win a prize in which you are to receive an annual payment, call an Ohio Lottery Office and make an appointment to submit your claim.
Winners have 180 days after the date of the draw in which to make their prize claim.
