Players of North Dakota Lottery games must be 18 years or older to buy or redeem tickets, which can be purchased at more than 400 retailers throughout the state.
Approximately 47 cents of every dollar in ticket sales is returned to players in the form of prizes, while 29 cents goes into the state's General Fund.
Prizes of $600 and less can be redeemed at any North Dakota Lottery retailer, or by mailing the ticket, signed on the back, plus a claim form, to the lottery's Bismarck headquarters. If mailing your winning ticket be sure to keep a copy of the front and back of all documents you send. Prizes over $601 must be claimed in person at North Dakota Lottery headquarters.
Winners have 180 days after the date of the draw in which to make their prize claim. All unclaimed prizes are retained, and transferred into the state's General Fund.
North Dakota Lottery advise that as soon as possible after purchasing your ticket you should sign the back of the ticket, as without this anyone in possession of a winning ticket may file a claim.
Prizes are not exempt from Federal tax, and by law, for prizes more than $5,000 won by US citizens North Dakota Lottery must withhold 25% for Federal Income taxes. Additionally, for prizes over $5,000, a 5.54% state gambling tax is withheld.
