Edward Foti can happily claim to be an incredibly lucky Staten Islander after he became an instant millionaire when he won $14 million in a Lotto Quick Pick.
Foti, 50, picked up his giant check this morning from the New York Lottery Customer Service Centre in Manhattan for a Quick Pick ticket he bought back in August.
He has decided to opt for payment in one lump sum of $9,140,573, which after taxes he will find $5,681,232 after taxes.
Edward’s 14 year old son will benefit greatly from the win as he intends to pay for his sons tertiary education which will allow his son to focus on his scholastics without having to worry about money.
After buying lottery tickets for over 15 years, he has, up until now only ever won $600 from his dedication to the game. His new found wealth won’t stop him from continuing to buy lottery tickets
"Yes, it's a habit, it's like buying the newspaper," Foti said.
He has also told KLA that he plans to continue working despite his successful lottery result.
“It’s just the way I am, I would feel lost without a job’, he says.
